As
President I look forward to the challenges in the
coming year and although I have been in the club for
many years there is still much to learn, and would
appreciate all your support. The club has been through some challenging times, and
also very interesting times through this period, with
the finale last November of the 75th Jubilee Dinner,
for which we owe a great deal of gratitude to the
75th committee led by Nevill Smith and
also to Robyn Armstrong for the
production of ‘Southern Reels’, ensuring that
important historical stories, facts, and photos are
there for future historical interest.
Thank
you to the committee for the work put in in 2012, and
congratulations to all those elected to the 2013
committee. This club has 75 years of successful
operation behind it, and we plan to continue having
some great years ahead.
The
new committee have had it’s first meeting for the
year, and our very strong aim is to make 2013 a year
of club enjoyment and growth. We plan to have guest
speakers, more outings, a number of new and exciting
project ideas have been hatched, with an emphasis on
getting people outside the immediate club involved,
and perhaps welcoming some new members.
Many
of us have gone through several era’s of development
in film making, from the days of making movies with
super eight, 16 mm, then video cameras 8 mm, hi 8,
VHS, and super VHS, and now a digital revolution is
occurring in film making, multi formats, memory
drives, access on the home computer to sophisticated
editing programmes, all of which are changing
continuously. However the simple rules still apply and
in camera skills these days have changed little in
producing an effective result. What you take, how you
want to convey your story is still down to your work
with the camera...We will be working with interested
members on camera and editing techniques through this
year.
